Our Earth ship
On this page we will try to update
our progress in building our own house out of things we get almost free. You can go to a web site(
www.earthship.com )
and see where we got our ideas from. We got ideas from
other places and are trying some that are our own also. We
are not doing this because we believe that people are the cause
of global warming, but this is the least costly for us, as we
are building without any loans and we are hoping it will be the
most efficient to heat and cool.
We are planning on having the
first building (we call the garage) completed this winter or
early spring and will move in to it while building the other
buildings. We are planning on being able to walk from one
building to another without going outside, barns included.
The first in the line will be
the Garage, then the actual house which will be a dome
shaped two story home. Next to it will be a green house
with the back of it a cold storage area where our deep freeze
and food storage items will be kept. The next building
will be a chicken house and the next our milking/grain barn.
Then the next two or more will be animal barns. We will be
using the roofs of some of them for growing grains and other
crops and plan to catch all the water run off for irrigation and
animal use.
